MIPCOM NEWS: New York-based integrated marketing agency Big Tent Entertainment has sealed an agreement with Nickelodeon's international channels for TV rights to animated shorts featuring popular Japanese character Domo.

Under the terms of the deal, Nickelodeon will premiere Domo shorts (26x2) across its networks in Europe, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. Available in 17 languages, the shorts start airing in 2007.

Aimed at a tween audience, the stop-frame animated series features Domo, a comic-looking, fuzzy brown cave dweller who became a cultural icon after first appearing as the mascot for Japanese pubcaster NHK in 1998.

Domo's producer Media International Corporation is handling distribution sales for Asia, with distributor Joan Lambur, of Lambur & Associates, exploring broadcast sales in other regions.
