ALASKA MOMMA APPOINTS BIG TENT ENTERTAINMENT AS WORLDWIDE MANAGEMENT COMPANY FOR ITS STABLE OF POPULAR ARTISTS, DESIGNERS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS
New York Based Marketing & Licensing Company To Help Maximize Merchandising And Promotional Potential Of Renowned Artist Portfolio
New York, NY, December 7, 2004 - Well-known licensing agency Alaska Momma, Inc. has named New York-based integrated marketing and licensing agent Big Tent Entertainment as its' worldwide management agency. Under the terms of the agreement, Big Tent will assume the day-to-day management responsibilities for Alaska Momma's entire portfolio, including such well known artists as Ty Wilson, Julia Cairns, and Robin Constable Hanson, as well as up-and-comers like Kate Holmes, "Apple", and Milo. Shirley Henschel will continue in her role as CEO of Alaska Momma.

Big Tent Entertainment plans to maximize the retail potential of Alaska Momma's stable of artists, photographers and designers through strategic licensing and promotional programs. The company will focus its efforts on establishing partnerships with proven industry leaders in such merchandise categories as home décor, giftware, stationery and paper products, and collectibles, as well as developing retail exclusives for specific artists. In addition, Big Tent will continue to seek artists to add to the Alaska Momma portfolio.
Recipient of LIMA's Achievement Award in 1988, a long time honoree of "Who's Who in American Women", and "Who's Who In America", Shirley Henschel started her licensing career in the 1960's representing professional auto racing drivers. Her client list included such greats as Stirling Moss, Eddie Sachs, Roger Ward, Tony Lund and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, the national drag racing champion.
The first licensing agency to represent artists at a time when all licensing was either cartoon or character driven, Alaska Momma represented Edward Gorey and Boris Vallejo, the fantasy artist, in the 1970's and expanded from there. At one time, the company also successfully licensed the romance writer, Barbara Cartland, developing cards, calendars, collectible dolls & figurines, using cover art from some of the hundred's of books Dame Barbara had written.
Alaska Momma developed 65 licensed lines on the "Nerds" children's candy in the 1980's and 86 licensed lines on the "Norfin" Trolls - in their revival in the early 90's. The company also created the long term licensing program featuring the photography of Kim Anderson. The highly successful Kim Anderson program was nominated for "License of the Year" in 1997.
